"I saw how psychology students from many different European countries could come together, learn from each other and collaborate with each other on the different projects on which they were engaged. The speakers had been invited to join the Summer School for a few days and it was very inspiring to see this process in action. It was also interesting to meet academic colleaguesfrom other countries and it was nice to spend some time learning about the country of our very kind and accommodating hosts: Romania. I would recommend attendance from undergraduate and postgraduate psychology students and from senior academics too."

''My experience of ESS was overwhelmingly positive. A dedicated and enthusiastic group of young people chose a relevant topic in the field of psychology and organized a series of lectures and workshops in which I myself learned a great deal from both colleagues and students. The atmosphere of the entire summer school was both joyful and studious. The cross-cultural components of participants, lecturers, and the setting in rural Romania impressed me and I felt hopeful with this new generation of psychologists. I honestly did not know what to expect from the experience and I am glad to say that what I received were invigorating conversations about multicultural and critical psychology, thoughtful questions about research and ethics, and enjoyable moments of 'old-fashioned fun' with guitar playing, singing and candlelight. I want to thank the organizers of the summer school for inviting me to participate, I recommend this event to other students, and I wish you all much success.''

"I found the ESS in Slovakia a fascinating experience. The principal feature was the enthusiasm of all concerned. This was evident in the interactions between students and teachers, both in the formal presentations and in the social functions. The local organisers were particularly helpful. I retain many happy memories of the ESS. "
Prof Hans Henrik Knoop, University of Aarhus, Denmark--ESS 2008 speaker
"I found the Summer School in Dolny Kubin, Slovakia to be a very nice forum for engaged students, both academically and socially. The organizers appeared to be on top of things and I hope it will be possible to continue this tradition."
Dr Kai Ruggeri, Queen's University Belfast, Northern Ireland--ESS 2009 research team supervisor
"ESS provides supervisors the opportunity not to lecture, but to actually lead and facilitate discussion for research. Instructing students in my research team was extremely beneficial in professional development, as it went beyond planned lectures but actually interacting with students throughout and learning how to address very difficult questions. The opportunity for PhD students, as research team supervisors to discuss issues and new approaches with fellow team leaders was an even further benefit. It would take pages and pages to cover individual praise for this event and its organisers, but suffice to say that any student, researcher, or established academic has much to gain from ESS participation. "This wonderful experience gave me a great opportunity to meet so many nice people from across the Europe, to conduct an international research with them, to learn from and with them, to share interests, to laugh, to sing, to dance, and make jokes nobody would understand while sitting on the benches all night long, and simply enjoy the sun laying on the grass with them. I could go on and on about how great this experience is but instead I am going to end with the fact that still today, when I read the booklet with the messages from other participants, I have a big smile on my face."

"EFPSA ESS let me come into the world of international research, I also got to know people, who were involved academically and with some I work on projects till this day, I also met my dream PhD supervisor. I've made many friends there, with some I work in EFPSA now, with others I meet at conferences or just for coffee, where I'm close to their home town. The funny thing is, with some I know it's a friendship for life but some I meet by accident at other events and Iwe are always happy to see each other, which is amazing, as how often do you get to know 30 people from whom you like each and every one of them?
