Internship opportunity in Northern Ireland!

The Study and Travel Abroad Service of EFPSA is pleased to announce a new internship opportunity in collaboration with the School of Psychology at Queen’s University Belfast in Northern Ireland!

The selected intern will join the Social Interaction Lab in the School of Psychology and work on a research project focusing on nonverbal expressions of emotion. Specifically, studies will include examining how culture influences the interpretation and use of facial expressions, how exposure to smiles and angry facial expressions influences memory, and how blocking facial movements in adults and infants affects facial expression recognition and emotion expressivity.

Main tasks

The intern will contribute to the recruitment of participants and data collection, analyse data, write preliminary reports of research findings, and contribute to writing articles. The intern will be part of a larger team of lecturers, graduate students, and postdocs, and will regularly meet these other researchers. The internship offers the opportunity to gain experience in behavioural coding, physiological measurements, facial expression recognition, video and image editing, and multivariate statistics.

Duration: 6 months (flexible starting date)
Hours per week: full-time
Spots: 1-2 interns will be selected
Terms: The internship will be unpaid, it is recommended to apply for funding opportunities (e.g. Erasmus + grant)
